Happenings at the Kings Park Heritage Museum

Remember,  December is Slavic Heritage Month!

Visitor Comes to Town...

Mrs. Helen Carrano came to a Kings Park Chamber of Commerce meeting and wound up at the Museum. The Stony Brook University Director of Community Relations was impressed with the School District's efforts and graciously offered assistance in museum development, educational exhibits and general University resources. All a plus for the Kings Park Establishment.

A Lesson in history...

A bit of history was returned to the Kings Park Heritage Museum. Irving Meyerson, former officer in the original Jewish Temple on Patiky Street visited the Museum to talk about the Patiky Family and the Jewish Society. Mr. Meyerson's wife was from the Patiky family. The two portraits on the wall depict Mrs. Patiky and Mrs. Okst wives of the Temple's rabbis.

                Veterans...
American Legion officials from the County and Local organizations were nice enough to singled out the Museum for a Legion citation. The presentation praises the School District's Museum for maintaining interest in the contributions veterans have given town, state and country.

 Happy Birthday!!

November 10th is the traditional birth date of the US Marine Corps. To recognize the event former Marines gathered at the Marine Corps exhibit. The two WWII Leathernecks had very interesting recollections. Joining the group were the VFW and the Marine Adjudent League from Huntington.

Gardening 101...

Is this a good spot to put them Dr. DeRose?? Dr. Mary DeRose, Kings Park School Superintendent joined with the RJO Intermediate School Students in planting fall flowers. The Church Street building has had its front landscaped into an all-seasons flower showcase.
