Your
Information…
The West Nile Virus
is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. It is
important to reduce mosquito breeding areas around your home and
property to prevent the transmission of West Nile Virus to people,
so after each rainfall, the Health Department reminds you to
“DUMP
THE WATER.”
 |
Dispose
of tin cans, plastic containers, ceramic pots or similar
water-holding containers. |
 |
Remove
all discarded tires on your property. |
 |
Drill
holes in the bottoms of recycling containers that are kept
outdoors. |
 |
Make
sure roof gutters drain properly and clean clogged gutters in the
spring and fall. |
 |
Turn
over plastic wading pools and wheelbarrows when not in use. |
 |
Change
the water in birdbaths. |
 |
Clean
vegetation and debris from edges of ponds. |
 |
Clean
and chlorinate swimming pools, outdoor saunas and hot tubs. |
 |
Drain
water from pool covers. |
 |
Use
landscaping to eliminate standing water that collects on your
property. |
 |
Check
your property for trash. Even a bottle cap can become a breeding
ground for mosquitoes. |

Chamber
Press Release |

(L to R) Charles Gardner, Chamber President, Larry Flynn &
Tony Leteri, Director
|
Once a blight on Main Street, Kings Park and at the same time a
reminder of what life was once like, the Carlson House has now
become a shining lighthouse for what may yet be . A worry for Fire
Department and residents alike, the house has come back from
destruction. All this was made possible by Larry Flynn, 3rd
generation Kings Park resident and businessman.
To say it was a difficult task is an under statement, but
perseverance paid off. Because of Mr. Flynn's constant efforts to
improve the quality of life in Kings park and specifically, for
saving the Carlson House, the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce honored
him with a plaque signifying his success. |
