Era una sera
meravigliosa... It was a wonderful evening! The RJO auditorium was
filled with music and cheer for the Kings Park Heritage Museum's
Italian Heritage Night sponsored by the Kings Park Order Sons of
Italy Fr. John Papallo Lodge.
Included in the program was an array of talent. The Lodge's own Joe
Dovi emceed the event and performed his repertoire of favorite
sing-along songs with his nephews Frankie & Charlie Dovi. Friends
Rosalie and Sam Malerba contributed a few soothing classics from
1940's & 50's... how mellow they were! Students from Ms.
Biancamanno-Galati's eighth grade Italian class at the William T.
Rogers Middle School added spice to the evening as they demonstrated
their mastery of the Italian language singing of some Italian
classics and performing a few skits.
The second half of the evening's event was filled with an
entertaining performance by Johnny Fusco whose rendition of "Proud
to be An American" brought the audience to a standing ovation.
After the finale, refreshments were served; many toured
the Museum and viewed the Italian heritage displays.

Halloween is just a
few days away, but there are still some great pumpkins to be found.
Locally, the Lucien Memorial
Pumpkin Patch has a
good selection and are reasonably priced.. Volunteers have been
diligently on hand to help local residents find just the right gourd
for the weary hunter. Since I was a child I have always looked
for the perfect pumpkin... the right color, symmetry and of course
the perfect stem on top. What was I thinking! Halloween pumpkins
aren't suppose to be perfect! In fact I have learned, the more
deformed and oddly shaped, the better. Ugly pumpkins are now the in
thing.
While celebrating don't forget the goodies for the kids. To make it
fun for the children and easy for the parents make sure all your the
treats you disperse are in sealed packaging. Most parents will
immediately discard any home made or open edibles.

Happy Halloween & Safe
Holiday to All...

To honor those who have passed
through the halls of Kings Park High School, the school district has
set up a hall of fame highlighting the accomplishments and efforts
of former students. October 21st, 2004 marked the inaugural
induction of the Arts & Letters Hall of Fame which will join the
Athletic, Music and Science Halls Fame as an annual event. This year
the group included three who have passed on, one who is overseas,
two who live off Long Island and two living in Kings Park. Each
candidate spoke of their accomplishments, relatives stood in, on
behalf of those unable to attend. The charter inductees included:
Miles Borden '46
Thomas E. Cassidy '33
Mary Flynn Dermery '24
Edward Hogan '62
Barbara Munder '63
Eileen Prusher '88
Florence Stattel '34
Arthur Winard '32
Congratulations & Best Wishes to
All...

The inaugural Kings Park
Education Foundation Dinner Dance was a huge success. Over two
hundred party-goers packed the Smithtown Landing last Friday to
honor former Kings Park graduate Thomas Ciliotta. The theme was
Masquerade but masks sat idle while old school disco ruled the sound
waves and the crowd danced the night away. Although only in
operation for 9 months, the Foundation has raised a handsome sum
thus far, monies that consume no overhead cost and will benefit
school age children in the Kings Park community.
Bravo KP Education
Foundation!
